Morning Routine

The most notable part of my morning routine is my daily caffeine fix. Unlike the normal hot cup of coffee or frappachino from Starbucks; I drink Yerba Mate tea. Yerba Mate is a natural tea that has more caffeine then coffee (around twice the caffeine) and is more of an energy drink. In my opinion, they taste way better cold, so I keep mine in the mini fridge in my dorm, packing the fridge with the a multitude of yellow and green cans. The sharp sound of the can popping now reminds me of the morning time. While Yerba Mate’s come in many different flavors, I choose to drink the mint flavor. I love it because of its light and refreshing taste, but also because it is sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. When I drink caffeine in the morning I feel more alert throughout the day; making my early mornings productive. Waking up at 7am for morning classes – although still a trouble – would be nearly impossible if it weren’t for my daily dose of yerba mate. I can’t imagine a life at Cal Poly without the joyous yellow cans that bring me so much joy and energy each and every day.
